Records of the Marquette Branch Prison, 1893-1942.

Series 2 and 3 of record group RG 88-54 consist of two sets of records of the Marquette Branch Prison for the years 1893-1942. The first set of records are the deputy warden record of reports (1901-1925). Includes written documentation concerning prisoner's disobedient behavior and the punishment assigned. The volumes list the prisoner's name, number, type of offense, punishment, and the officer's name that made the complaint report. The second set of records consists of the Freeman's ready reckoning calendar (1893-1942). This contains the calculations and dates for determining the length of sentence for a prisoner including the automatic good time assigned to each prisoner based upon the amount of time served.
